Day 1-5 Biome Balancing Game [Play][Edit]
- This biome balancing game simulates 3 or more different interconnected life forms. In the example, a fish tank is simulated with fish, flora, and scavenger.
In your JOURNAL, plan your biome balance game variation: A short description, detailed rule set, rough sketches
Download the editable file HERE and explore with The Games Factory 2.0 (already installed on your school computer). Focus mainly on the level editor and event editor.
- In the level editor create the 3 different interdependent life forms with bouncing movement and any desired animations.
- In the event editor provide rules that keep them contained, speed, procreation, growth, death.
- Add graphic buttons that let you add more of each at randomized starting locations
Play test your simulation and get feed back from others
- PLAY and RATE each others games!

Day 6-10 Lunar Lander Game [Play][Edit]
- The lunar lander game is great for understanding the physics of spaceflight in a low gravity, low friction environment.
In your JOURNAL, plan your lunar lander game variation: A short description, detailed rule set, rough sketches e.g. asteroid belt (no gravity), underground caverns, high gravity planet, submarine in water...
Download the editable file HERE and explore with The Games Factory 2.0 (already installed on your school computer). Focus mainly on the level editor and event editor.
- In the level editor build your space vehicle as an active object, pointing right with the hot spot set for the middle. Choose "space ship " movement, set desired thrust, gravity, enable automatic rotations.
- Create backdrop objects (with Collision:Obstacle Type set to Obstacle) and build your race course/maze.
- Add fuel pickups strategically and create the events you desire (destroy with backdrop collision, add fuel to gauge, disable control when fuel=0, etc)
Play test your simulation and get feed back from others
- PLAY and RATE each others games!

Day 11-15 Trading Game (Buy Low - Sell High) [Play][Edit]
- Research : First try these professional games to get a taste of the game types we will be attempting to replicate. The demo game we will be using as a template is based on an old 80's PC game called Taipan! The simplified but better looking version I made can be played HERE.
In your JOURNAL, plan your trading game variation (florist distributor, farm coop, gem wholesaler...), a short description, detailed rule set (low, middle & high priced product price ranges), rough sketches
Download the editable file HERE , SAVE AS to your "My Documents" folder, and explore with The Games Factory 2.0 (already installed on your school computer). Focus mainly on the level editor and event editor.
- In the level editor replace/import your themed graphics
and RE-CENTER Hot Spots
Change Title and product names
- In the EVENT EDITOR alter the 3 random pricing values to match your product ranges (do it for all 3 locations!)

- Demo to the instructor for a grade. 20% is JOURNAL.
